This month sees the start of a new feature, "Member Profiles", in which we can share our interests and background and learn a bit more about our fellow members. Be prepared for a phonecall and a visit from the Editor ! To kick the articles off, I have targeted our one and only "Mower Man", alias John Aitken, who together with his wife Lois, has made a significant impact on the club in the eleven years he has been back in the hobby.
Currently, Allison and I are in Switzerland at our daughter Joanna's home in Herisau, about eighty km east of Zurich. We flew over with Singapore Airlines in two of their newer aircraft, a 777 to Sing, and the Airbus 380 for the second leg to Swizzy. Great aircraft, very quiet and smooth, and the service would be some of the best we have experienced flying. Alex arranged a jump seat in the Dash 80 to Auckland so I could help the two pilots fly that leg. That in itself was a great experience, and I have to say how impressed I was by the professionalism and skill of Steve and Tim the two Air Nelson pilots, Thankyou Guys and Alex, that was much appreciated..
I hope to take in a couple of the clubs over here to help fight the withdrawl symptoms, however now that the body clock has got itself re-adjusted, the three hour luncheon cruise today with the family on Bodensee (Lake Konstance) in 25 degrees and sunshine did help to allieve the remaining jet-lag pain.
I hope you enjoy this month's read which contains some interesting contributions from members and readers.
Thank you all for your help. Fortunately with this new format, I am able to work on the newsletter whilst away, so even more than usual, I will be very keen to receive your help and copy and pictures.
